[ He finishes his own slice and moves the plate aside. ]
Kitchen. I got it.
[ He even grabs two glasses instead of aiming for drinking out of the bottle, because he's a gentleman. Or maybe it's more because even though they're friends, habits die hard and she's still a cute girl in his living room on Valentine's day. ]
[And while he goes to do that, Skye takes her seat back on the couch. This time, however, the dog does come over to her trying to take the pizza out of her hand. So when Bucky does come back in he’ll see her trying to dodge the dog.
[ He puts down the bottle and glasses so he can distract her away from Skye's pizza and push her back into her corner of the couch with some gentle distraction and minimal force. She seems reluctant to leave the food, but doesn't resist as much when Bucky reaches behind her for a chewed up toy shaped like a goat. Bucky thinks he's hilarious. ]
Good girl. You have your own food in the kitchen.
[ There's a little laugh as he settles in between the two of them again. ]
Sorry she's like a teddy bear, but she's also the size of an actual bear.
[Once it’s safe, Skye sits back up with the pizza still in her hand.]
I’m surprised you don’t have an actual bear yet. You want me to hit play?
[It’s been a long time since she’s seen this film, which is probably a good thing because if she remembered the lines she would be saying them along with the movie.]
[ He pours them both glasses, hers generous and his seemingly crazy, because if he drinks enough he can catch a buzz, but enough is coma levels for most people. ]
And I tried to lure a bear home, but I don't know what they eat.
[Side eyeing the way he pours his glass of whiskey practically to the brim, Skye snorts softly as she grabs hold of her own glass.]
People, probably.
[Pressing play, Skye takes a small sip and just as she expected it wasn’t the greatest whiskey she’s had in her life. This place really didn’t do justice to flavor. []Might have to do with the fact that this is a dream but Skye won’t ever admit that.]
[ Bucky has no doubt that Skye hadn't meant anything by it. Maybe another time it might have stung, but right now, he's in a good mood and it slides off. Most people aren't this touchy about their memory, in any case. ]
[Okay, so maybe by the end of the movie Skye is on the verge of drunk, or maybe the movie was just that funny. Legs tucked under her, Skye has her head on Bucky’s shoulder.]
So. What did you think?
[By this point, all of the pizza was gone and so were some of the donuts, and at point Skye had taken off her shoes although she doesn’t remember doing that. ]
[ Bucky settles on the couch to enjoy the movie and the food and company. It's a nice evening and there's a warmth spreading in his gut from the whiskey. Maybe it had been a little too much, but he doesn't want to admit it, so he spends the moving sipping it and when Skye rests against him, he relaxes even more.
This is nice. ]
That was cute.
[ He smiles down at Skye's hair and rests his head against hers. ]
[With the credits now rolling, Skye is acutely aware of how close he is to her, which is fine as it's not the first time they've been this close. But it's different this time because the only other time is when they were both freezing in the woods.
Snapping out of her thoughts when she realizes the goat has come over and is starting to chew on the pizza box, but Skye really doesn't want to move right now.]
I don't know. I've never had a pizza box and a goat in the same room before.
[ His goatlife is pretty far-removed from Brooklyn. That's part of what's made it an easy place to heal. ]
I don't think a little bit of paper ever hurt anyone, though.
[ Of course, he still taps the box with his foot and the jarring motion of the box has Lefty bleating at it like it's betrayed her. He's too comfortable to get up and take care of the box just yet, but at least the goat seems to lose some of her intent interest now that she knows the box might bite back. ]
[This whole thing funny as it was, but it was even funnier when drunk/tipsy. Snorting out a laugh, Skye brings a hand up to her mouth to try and stifle her laugh and fails. Especially when Bucky annoys the goat.]
You're such a dork.
[Which is totally part of his charm. Smiling still, Skye tilts her head to look up at him.]
[ He shifts, laughing as he turns to smile at her. That's when he realizes just how close they are, except it doesn't spook him the way it probably should. There's nothing but a pleasant buzz of warm affection between them. He's only a little tipsy, all things considered. Sober enough to know that kissing her is a bad idea for keeping their friendship intact as is and just warm and impulsive enough to not care.
His head tilts and his nose brushes hers. ]
Besides you like that I'm a dork.
[ The words are quiet and a little dreamy before he leans in slowly the last inch to kiss her. ]
[Eyes falling to his lips briefly, her smile only widens when she realizes what's about to happen. Skye could easily put a stop to this, but she doesn't want to. Especially when he's talking to her like that. Heart pounding in her chest in excitement, Skye only has to lean up a little for their lips to connect as her eyes fall shut. Unable to keep the smile off her lips fully, Skye's hand finds its way to the back of his head, bringing him that much closer to her.
Maybe this should be weirder, but for some reason, it feels anything but weird. He's been there for Skye from the moment she arrived all those months ago, and in all honesty? It's not like she hasn't thought this might be a possibility at some point, but she hadn't wanted to put too much thought on it and make it awkward. She could easily keep going, especially when he's this good, but she should probably make sure he's still good with this and pulls away just enough. Biting her lower lip to keep from all-out grinning, Skye finally opens her eyes to look at him.]
That was...
[Congrats, Bucky, you've made her speechless for once in her life. Please tell her you feel the same way, otherwise this will be awkward.]
[ His eyes close, but he can't stop smiling--not into the kiss and not when she pulls back. He's smiling like an idiot and he really doesn't care.
Maybe he hadn't thought expressly about doing something like this, but it's not like he's never noticed Skye. She's attractive and funny and smart and he likes her a lot. He always feels warm around her, like something's thawing him out. He feels that even more now. ]
Yeah, it was.
[ It's his right hand that slides up her bicep, warm and careful. ]
[Relieved that he's feeling the same way, Skye's skin feels like it's on fire when his hand runs up her arm. It would be a lie to say that Skye wasn't touch starved, and any opportunity right now was more than welcomed.]
Good to know.
[With absolutely no hesitation on her part, Skye leans back in, this time her hand finds rest on the side of his face.]

Where’s that whiskey you talked about?

Help. At least she’s laughing, right?]

[ He takes his own drink and his face twitches a little at the taste. Yeah, he should have gotten something a little better. ]
You're still going to feel that more than I'm going to feel this.

[She almost says ‘on a date’ but this wasn’t a date.
...Right?
Of course it’s not. They’re just friends hanging out, on Valentine’s Day.]
I got drunk, really don’t want a repeat of that tonight.
[Not that everything from that night was terrible.
Anyway.]

I promise to cut you off before you get drunk enough to hurt yourself or be too sick tomorrow.
[ But of course, he would also try to stop her if she tried to do anything too stupid, because he's been there himself. ]

I’m not that kind of drunk. Besides, I would rather remember tonight. Apparently you don’t feel the same way.

I’m sorry. Me and my dumb mouth.
