[Being here for a few weeks was not something Daisy imagined, despite knowing that her way back home relied on a gemstone she has yet to find. She’s done her best to blend in, having to bite her tongue far more often than she’d like. Daisy took solace in the fact that she could at least vent to Claire and Bree about her frustrations, but she also tried to limit her venting with them. After all, they’ve chosen to stay here.
Thanks to Claire and some of the other women here, she’s got some more appropriate clothing. Not only appropriate for the time they’re in, but also the weather.
Today, Daisy volunteered to go out into the woods with Claire to look for some plants that she could use for medicine. She has a gun slung over her shoulder, one of Jamies’ she believes. After watching him and Bree shooting one day, she gave it a shot herself. Having experience with guns herself, she nailed every shot she took. Of course, these guns were a lot slower than the ones she was used to. The trip in the woods should be uneventful, but Daisy didn’t want to take that risk. Especially when using her powers was not an option here. None of them knew about it, and she planned to keep it that way.]
How did you learn to forage like this?
[Daisy asks, crouched down next to Claire and helping her pick some snowdrop flowers.]
I doubt they taught you this in medical school.

As they look for the flowers together, Claire smiles at her question. ]
I learned in Madagascar; there was a very remote tribe there that wound up being on top of something even older. Then of course, you go other places, learn what the plant life is, and apply the same principles. We were there for ten months, and that's where I learned quite a lot about foraging and tracking. It was one of my last trips with my uncle.
[ By now, Claire's filled Daisy in on her past and the way she grew up, and what her life was like in the war as a nurse. She's enjoyed sharing those stories, but hasn't said much about her first 3-year stint in the 18th century. It's painful, most of it, so she tries to away with mentioning it as little as possible. ]

It’s almost like you were preparing for a life in the 18th century.
[Daisy says, smiling softly at her. Sure, Daisy believes in coincidences. But she also believes in fate.]
Did you ever use that knowledge when you worked out in the field as a nurse, or as a doctor at the hospital?
[With the last of the snowdrop from this area collected, Daisy moves to stand back up. Scanning the ground for more, or any other familiar plant life she’s learned about from Claire.]

[ She wishes she had a pharmacy here, better yet, a modern hospital. How many could she save who didn't have to die? ]
Unfortunately, there's another war coming. At that point, all of this will come in handy again, not just to tend to injuries, but to keep from starving. There are no air supply drops, no safe zones. Foraging becomes dangerous because you could run into an enemy caught unawares. Hopefully, my kit is well stocked enough that I won't need to do that for a long while, though. And we'll pass through towns where I can restock the traditional way.
[ Claire moves to a different spot, finding a patch of winter weeds to pull in order to make a salve that helps with inflammation, perfect for Jamie's hand. ]

Dread fills her body when she realizes just how close they are to…]
The Revolution.
[Daisy might not have a vast knowledge of history, but she does know it’s around this time. She feels guilty, knowing there’s nothing that can be done to stop it. But it’s unknown if the people she’s come to know will survive. It’d be easy to ask why Claire wouldn’t just leave, but having gotten to know her, Daisy knows she’d never do that.]
I’m guessing Jamie knows?
[She hasn’t heard them talking about it, but she doubts Claire wouldn’t warn her husband.
Daisy is about to kneel down and help pull up the weeds when she hears a twigs snap somewhere behind them. Immediately tense, Daisy turns on the spot. Reaching for the rifle on her back at the same time. There’s a cougar hunched over, ready to pounce. Breaking out in goosebumps, she aims the gun at it.]
Claire. Get behind me.
[Fighting people and aliens? Just another Thursday for Daisy. Fighting wild animals? That one is new for her. She remembers how Jamie taught her how to use the gun, but he hadn’t taught her how to handle the gun jamming as it does right now.
At that exact moment, the cougar leaps towards them and with no time to waste she does the one thing she set out not to do here. Dropping the rifle, she raises her hands and the cougar suddenly goes through the air. Letting out panicked roars before it crashes hard on a large boulder. Clearly dead from the impact.]
