Personality:

Skye grew up in and out of a Catholic orphanage. The constant switches between foster families made it difficult for her to trust anyone, which gave her major abandonment issues. Without any sort of stability, Skye grew up feeling that she was not valued by anyone, which caused her to withdraw her emotions from others as a way to cope with the constant rejection. In her mind, it’s easier to not hope for anything, because then there’s nothing to lose if things go sideways. Anytime she starts to feel safe and comfortable in a place or around others, there’s always that thought in the back of her mind that something bad is going to happen. As a way of coping, Skye often prepares, mentally, for a worse case scenario. Although she does find it difficult to trust others, it’s not impossible, and once she trusts someone, Skye is completely loyal to them.

Despite her rough upbringing, Skye is a very compassionate and empathetic person. Unwilling and unable to just sit by if she sees someone in trouble, Skye will risk her own life to protect people who need it. She doesn’t want anyone else to feel the way she did growing up, and will always be there to listen to people who just need someone to talk to. That said, it’s not always easy for her to open up to others about how she’s really feeling and she often deflects serious conversations by cracking jokes and using sarcasm as a way of coping.

When Skye has her mind set on something, there’s no stopping her or changing her mind. Her entire life she’s wondered who her parents were, and why they gave her up. Once she found an in with her skills as a computer hacker, Skye spent that entire time doing everything within her ability to find what she could on them. Which led to her being ‘found’ by SHIELD. Having only herself to rely on growing up, Skye knows how to be a people pleaser and to say things that others want to hear, which has helped her in her quest to find her parents and also to get out of difficult situations. She often acts impulsively and then, only after the fact, really thinks about what she’s done.

Skye is very opinionated and has no problem in voicing her concerns and thoughts to others. While she does her best to look at all the variables, it is almost impossible to change her views on something once her mind is made up. Having been with SHIELD for a few months now has given her a sense of purpose and belonging somewhere, and has caused her confidence to grow quite a lot. Between the familial feelings, and the training Skye has received as a future SHIELD agent, she has a new outlook on life. One where she learned how to be a team player and that working hard at something does actually lead to good things. They gave her a sense of belonging, especially Coulson, whom after finding out that she was using SHIELDs resources to get more information on her parents, gave her a second chance and let her stick around. In her opinion, he is the exact type of person to look up to, and she thinks the world of him.

Skye is curious by nature, and while it often gets her into trouble, she finds it difficult to listen to someone telling her to leave things alone. If something doesn’t feel right or doesn’t add up, she will willfully ignore any warnings given to her. So it shouldn’t be surprising that Skye is an extremely stubborn person who is not great at following authority. Often having to answer to the nuns at the orphanage whenever she acted out, Skye has grown to have a real disdain for following rules when they don’t suit her beliefs. For example, the rules dictated by SHIELD that Skye sees as a cold-hearted approach, which has her going against said rules for a more compassionate and empathetic approach.

Personal Moral Codes:
-Skye grew up in a Catholic orphanage, where Catholicism was forced upon her. The nuns often used God as a fear tactic, except for one nun who said: “God is love”. So while she does not believe in God in the biblical sense, she likes to believe that version of it.

-Believes that almost everyone(murderers need not apply) a second chance. People make mistakes, and she’s sure as hell made a lot of them. It doesn’t make them a bad person.

-Trust is not easily given, and if broken, Skye will very likely cut that person right out of her life. She’s had her heart broken too many times to let people like that stick around.

-Skye believes in protecting those who can’t protect themselves, no matter what the possible risks for her are.

-Skye is not above breaking the law if it means getting answers to questions or helping someone she cares about out of a sticky situation.

Insecurities/Personal Demons:

-Being abandoned: The constant switches within the foster system have really messed Skye up when it comes to growing to care about people.

-Being helpless: SHIELD has given her a sense of purpose and while she may not have taken the training seriously in the beginning, she’s learned to appreciate aspects of it. However, since being shot while out in the field, Skye is questioning the abilities she learned and wishes she had taken it more seriously and worked harder.

-Guilt over SHIELD agents dying to protect her as a baby

-Fearful of losing her found family

Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses:

Hacking: Skye found out that she has a natural talent when it comes to CS and hacking into computers. She learned how to do all of this in order to find out what she could about her parents/her pasts, but it's also part of the reason she is working for SHIELD now.

Pattern recognition: Part of the reason Skye is so good at hacking is that she's good at recognizing the patterns in things that others may overlook.

Weapons training: She is by no means an expert, but Skye does have some training when it comes to using guns.

Hand to hand combat: Again, she doesn't have much training, but she does know some moves.

Weaknesses: Skye has all of the weaknesses that any other regular ol’ human has.

Ability/Power/Magic Warping: None
